The quote is from Horace, "Ars Poetica", which John recalled, although he claims he doesn't read Latin. When he heard IBM use the new acrynym MVS (in place of VS2), he remembered the quote, which translates to "The Mountain Labored and gave birth to a ridiculus MVS" - MVS or MUS in Latin is Mouse.
