CICS was developed in Hursley, ENGLAND, and there is pronounced "kicks". Button 32 was the creation of Dave Nichols, then of IBM Education, and Bob Yelavich, IBM Rep to the SHARE CICS Project. Rodney Moffet was the IBM Hursley Rep to the project but had nothing to do with the button. The "message" conveyed by this button had to do with the CICS Mirror Transaction, new to CICS with its Intersystems Communication (ISC) capability, and later with the Multi-Region Operation (MRO) option. An application on one CICS system could cause a request to be routed to another CICS system, in another region or on another machine, where the destination CICS system would carry out the request using its mirror transaction - a "reflection" of the original request.
