Niklaus Wirth completely developed the PASCAL language in 1970; it was implemented on many hardware platforms, but was primarily a teaching aid for Computer Scientists, especially for Structured Programming. IBM's initial implementation of TCP/IP was written in Pascal (probably by people in IBM research?).
