SCIDS was created as a separate Session Concerning InterDisciplinary Studies as a way of charging $5 per person circa 1958, so that SHARE could serve alcohol. SHARE had been free, and many attendees in the early years were military/government (should I add industrial to remind you of the '60s?) who could not pay for drinks on expenses. But the actual acronym stood for Session Contaiing Drunks, Inebirates, and SOTS, per both Tom Steele and Mort Bernstein.
